Planner, Organizer – Google Calendar

I like using a planner. It is a very helpful tool to manage personal and professional schedules. I personally started using a planner when I was in college. As I said in my previous post, it helps us remember things if we write them, and that applies for our daily schedules as well. But even the small notebook that we call planner is evolving. We have seen notebook planners with different designs, the ever famous Starbucks planner, the electronic organizer, PDA’s, and now the most common type which most people have now, the mobile phone planner.

I found a calendar app that is very useful and efficient in managing schedules – the Google Calendar. Google Calendar enhances productivity and if you use it correctly, it actually is a big help. You can create multiple calendars with this tool. The Google Calendar interface is really simple but it has a lot of powerful features nonetheless. One nice feature of Google Calendar is that you can share your calendar with others, which could be beneficial for project managers. Other useful features are sharing your calendar, creating events and sending out invites to the events, and SMS notifications which is a sleek way to remind you of your activities, tasks or events when you don’t have access to the calendar at any given time. When you send out invites to your events, you’ll be able to know who and how many would attend as the invites you send out allows the person invited to confirm if he or she would attend the event. You can also embed your Google Calendar on your blog or website.

Google calendar can be used with a web browser and through an app for mobile phones and mobile devices. It syncs with Android devices and iPhone. It also integrates with Google Task. You can also access your Google Calendar offline on your computer through Google Chrome by installing a browser extension called the Google Calendar Web application.

Below is a guide in using Google Calendar for new users. I hope you find this helpful. Plan to use Google Calendar too? Start using here.
